Potter's House - DC's quintessential coffee house/bookstore

The quintessential social issues-oriented café/coffee house in DC’s Adams Morgan neighborhood, with a broad selection of books on social issues, from The Open Veins of Latin America published   in 1971  by Uruguayan journalist and poet Eduardo Galeano at the height of the 1960s/70s socialist intellectual wave in South America, to The Climate Book a collection of essays by experts   edited by Geta Thunberg in 2022. Potter’s House describes its mission as, “…providing good food and conversation to all regardless of means…our bookstore specializes in curation of social movements, justice and equity, cultural studies, and spiritual traditions…We have been serving tens of thousands of free meals each year to those in need, and rely on your support to keep our welcoming doors open to all.” The food is good, and the selection of books is difficult to find elsewhere.   Plenty of seating outside and inside along the windows.   Good in any weather.   No rush....

The federal libraries are an extraordinarily rich resource, not only on government but on history, culture, science, law, and many other topics. In view of current skepticism about what is fact and what the government is up to, the openness of government records is an invaluable foundation for what is true. National Book Festival--tomorrow--in DC

  🠋🠋🠋🠋 The National Book Festival Saturday, Sept. 6, in Washington, DC 2025 National Book Festival The 2025 National Book Festival will be held in the nation’s capital at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center on Saturday, September 6, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. (doors open at 8:30 a.m.). The event is free and open to the public. A selection of programs will be livestreamed online, and videos of all programs will be available shortly after the Festival.
